Sustainability West Midlands (SWM) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation championing sustainability. With over 200 cross-sector members, SWM supports sustainable change through collaboration and advice.
As the organisation continued to grow and evolve, SWM identified the need to strengthen team cohesion and embed its values more deeply.
The Challenge
As a geographically dispersed and growing team, SWM faced the challenge of strengthening internal collaboration and embedding its core values – ‘Dedicated, Collaborative and Creative’ – into everyday behaviours.
With new team members, associates and volunteers joining, there was a need to build mutual understanding of working styles and communication preferences, while reinforcing a shared culture aligned with SWM’s 2030 vision for strategic and team growth.
The Solution
We delivered an action-focused workshop to enable the team to:
- Build awareness of working styles and improve collaboration
- Translate SWM’s values into practical behaviours in their daily work
- Make personal commitments that strengthen team culture and support growth goals
The Results
The session successfully deepened the team’s understanding of diverse working styles and communication preferences, creating greater collaboration. SWM’s values were explored in a way that translated into meaningful, mission-aligned behaviours. Participants engaged openly, reflecting thoughtfully on how they can contribute to a positive team culture aligned with SWM’s growth vision.
Key outcomes included:
- Stronger team empathy and collaboration through increased awareness of individual working styles
- Deepened understanding and meaningful adoption of SWM’s core values across the full team
- High engagement and positive feedback, with 95% overall delegate satisfaction and 96% trainer rating
